Has Marvel given away the plot of its upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Maybe. As the film edges closer to its scheduled run in theatres, so too is its merchandise, thanks to licences given to LEGO, Hasbro, and more.
Action Figure Spoilers
LEGO has released a playset titled “Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash“, with promotional photos that show an angry Hulk standing atop a building with fists in the air. Spider-Man looks up at the big green giant as Scorpion and The Hand look on.
Similarly, Hasbro has revealed the “Marvel Legends Series Punisher. Hulkbuster Armor,” which they say is inspired by his appearances in “Marvel’s Thunderbolts #31 (2012) and Marvel comics”. While we can call it a coincidence, the timing is telling. Perhaps embargoes are in order if Disney, especially, hopes to bounce back, no thanks to its meddling in IPs they are proving extremely great at ruining.
Rehash Rejection
Whether Marvel Studios and Disney want to admit it or not, huge swaths of fans are rejecting its return to saturated crossovers, which leave superheroes feeling less special than they once were. While the spectacle can entertain a select demographic, it could be the franchise’s undoing if its writers do not roll back its over-the-top agenda.
