So-called patriots talk of “British values”, and the so-called liberals are starting to sound just like them
This past week has been a frustrating one. I’ve come face to face with bigots who shout obscenities and announce opinions as if they’re facts. “We’re losing our culture!” “Over the last twenty years we’ve mass imported cultures which don’t share our values.” These are such broad statements that are regurgitated from the GB News mulch of bottom-feeding, expert cherry-pickers. Britain loves to complain and outsource. This perfectly explains its problems.
The fact of the matter is that these sweeping sentiments aren’t supported by the statistics. In the 2021 census, 74.4% of residents in England and Wales identified as White British, while 90.3% identified with at least one UK national identity. When confronted with these statistics, some bigots will insinuate that everyone outside the White British category is brown or Black, ignoring the fact that 81.7% identified as White overall, including people of Eastern European and Baltic heritage.
Your Problems Are Going Away Until You Find More
Boat crossings are down 41%. So-called mass immigration is down from 331,000 in 2024 to 171,000 in 2025. What more can these people want? Is it validation? Attention? Or something else? I really don’t see the problem here, other than the need to discover more problems to find meaning in their lives.
Immigration is nothing new. As society and technology advance, it remains part of economic life. Another fact to bring to the table is that fertility rates in England and Wales have declined and continue to do so.
Claiming that British people are becoming a minority is incredibly unfair, given that these sweeping assumptions conflate being British with being White British. These claims truly do smack of prejudice of the worst kind.
These superficial and witless remarks paint with a broad brush because we can pretty much assume — ironically — that their assumptions are taken from television, social media and an overdose of Question Time. And, funnily enough, so-called progressives are beginning to sound just like them.
Rather than hide your true feelings and intentions behind the facade of so-called “British values”, just come out already and say you want to torture and coerce us like your ancestors did. Because in reality, we’re just as British as anyone else, if not more so.
Like Japan, the United Kingdom has its share of xenophobia. And as an island nation whose history is steeped in invasions — by the Romans, the Vikings, etc. — perhaps we should go a little easier on diddums. Even if no more people migrated to the country, Brits would still find something else to pick at.
