New track from EZ MIL featuring Eminem is great, but forgettable
EZ MIL returns alongside his sensei Eminem on his latest single, “Madara,” for what feels like a nothing burger again. While it provides some solemn keys and some paced bravado, it retains a very familiar and banal execution, one that epitomises Eminem of late on any song.
Review: Déjà Vu
The Kamikaze rapper just can’t seem to break the wall anymore, and while it’s obvious that EZ MIL is inspired and influenced heavily by Eminem, we don’t need another Marshall Mathers. EZ MIL and Hideyoshi offer performances that are okay, though MIL hasn’t delivered anything decent since his last best outing, ironically, with Eminem on “Realest.”
On “Madara”, Mathers delivers skilled, sharp bars straight from the sheath, shooting from the hip, though, for the most part, it’s often shock value with very little depth to his pen anymore. Performatively, there’s juice in the tank, but it’s only steering from A to B. The Detroit rapper tries to shed his 2000s skin but remains wrapped up in the pre-ecdysis stage. Overall, this track is dope, just repetitive and quickly wears off.
