Rapper Eminem responds to criticism of his feature on Kid Rock’s new album
Hip-hop behemoth Eminem has come out to defend his decision to collaborate with Kid Rock, saying it is more about friendship than politics. The announcement caused division among rap and Em fans, with the debate stirring the Detroit-based lyricist’s fanbase. While some have supported him, others have been highly critical.
Criticism
The rapper, real name Marshall Mathers, was condemned by both activists and fans for his decision to feature on Rock’s album but has remained silent until now.
In a statement, the Encore artist defended his decision to work with the controversial MAGA supporter: “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us.”
However, some social media users were not buying it. One commenter said: “Choose better friends,” while another said: “‘Not about choosing sides’ he says as he chooses a side.”
Some Muslims have also been critical of the partnership in light of Kid Rock’s recent comments about Islam, in which he questioned whether the religion was a “cult”, among other things.
One online commenter made their feelings known: “You’re encouraging a bigot by remaining friends with him”.
On the flip side, some have defended him: “They have been friends long before Trump came around,” one commenter wrote, arguing that political differences shouldn’t automatically make people enemies.
Kid Rock’s new album Halfway 2 Jesus was released 16 October 2026 and also features Lil Wayne.
