New track “She Knows Too Much” features a previously unheard verse from Mac Miller’s archives
Thundercat taps into the lyrical world of late rapper Mac Miller and the soulful music of Grammy Award-winning producer Greg Kurstin. His fresh track, She Knows Too Much, threads elements of hip-hop and funk over a relaxed tempo. Their new single is taken from his upcoming new album, “Distracted“.
‘She Knows Too Much‘: A Funk Infused Sound
She Knows Too Much addresses the dynamics of a relationship overshadowed by imposter syndrome and the uncertainty of being out of a love interest’s league. Chasing the mystery and intellectual complexity of their partner, Thundercat‘s vocals effortlessly glide over the production, while posthumous verses from Mac Miller temper the track’s funky, instrumental rhythm.
“You got trouble payin’ rent now
Live in an apartment, I can take you to the penthouse
Got a stepchild, gone like exile
Make me say, “Woo,” every time you pull your breasts out
(She got so much love) I’m feelin’ left out
(I can be your drug) When you’re stressed out
I know you say it’s true love, but why you always hit me when the check bounce?”
The music video, directed by Léa Esmaili, blends 2D and 3D visuals in a stop-motion style, thoughtfully capturing the zestful friendship of the two.
